FRITILLARIA

The species known in Dutch as “imperial crown” refers to Fritillaria imperialis, which takes its name from its flower shape: a hanging wreath in the shape of a crown. This group is also called “stink lily” in reference to its distinctive scent, which is said to keep moles out of the garden. The Fritillaria persica (Persian imperial crown) has also become a well-known variety and can also be used as a cut flower.
