Allium Purple Sensation is a magnificent sight! A few hundred small, star-shaped flowers grow in a tight cluster, creating a round flower ball (around 8 cm wide)! This variety has a vibrant purple colour, and it has won multiple awards of Garden Merit! With its long stems, Purple Sensation is excellent for cut flower use.

Alliums are also called “Ornamental Onions” and they belong to the same family as garlic and onion, that it why, when cut or damaged, the stems will produce the scent of the onion. The flowers attract butterflies and wild animals, such as deer, will ignore it. Alliums prefer sandy, medium-dry soil and full sun. The flowers bloom in late spring and cut flowers can last for 2 weeks. For bigger yards and border planting we also have an Allium XL-Pack available. For a creative visual effect, try planting them in small groups.

  • First loosen the soil well where the allium bulbs will be planted. Then the soil is easier to work with.
  • Dig a hole and make sure it is 2 to 3 times as deep as the height of the bulbs.
  • For the distance between the bulbs, make sure it is 2 times the diameter of the bulbs.
  • Plant the flower bulbs in the hole with the pointed side facing up or with the root base facing down.
  • Cover the allium bulbs with soil and water them well.
