Tulip Showwinner (Tulipa Kaufmanniana) – The Early Spring Champion Bring your garden to life before the rest of the neighborhood even wakes up. True to its name, the Showwinner Tulip is an award-winning variety famous for being one of the earliest tulips to bloom. This vibrant, scarlet-red "Waterlily Tulip" is a must-have for anyone who wants high-impact color with minimal effort.

A Fiery Welcome to Spring

The Showwinner isn’t just another red tulip. As a Kaufmanniana variety, it features large, pointed petals that open wide in the full sun, revealing a glowing yellow heart. When fully open, these blooms resemble waterlilies floating atop a sea of unique, mottled green-and-purple foliage.

Why the Showwinner Deserves a Spot in Your Garden

First to Arrive: Blooms in early spring, often alongside crocuses, to kickstart your garden’s color palette.

Perennial Power: Unlike many hybrid tulips that fade after one year, Showwinner is excellent for naturalizing, meaning it will reliably return year after year.

Weather Resistant: With its short, sturdy stems (6–8 inches), this tulip stands its ground against wind and heavy spring rain.

Compact & Versatile: Perfectly suited for rock gardens, front-of-border displays, and patio containers.

Other information

  • First loosen the soil well where the flower bulbs will be planted. Then the soil is easier to work with.
  • Dig a hole and make sure it is 2 to 3 times as deep as the height of the tulip bulbs.
  • For the distance between the bulbs, make sure it is 2 times the diameter of the bulbs.
  • Plant the flower bulbs in the hole with the pointed side facing up or with the root base facing down.
  • Cover the tulip bulbs with soil and water them well.
