Narcissus Actaea is the original variety of Poeticus (Division IX) and it has classic white petals with a small yellow cup-shaped corona, which is outlined with a red edge. This proud Actaea grows sturdy and long stems (40-45 cm), and for many years it’s one of the most popular varieties among flower enthusiasts.
Narcissus have a sweet fragrance and are easy to grow. The bulbs can quickly multiple, and the flowers will return in bigger quantities for many more years to follow. The flowers bloom in the late-spring (April-May) and look wonderful in combination with single late tulips.
Greek mythology says that there were handsome young men and beautiful young women, who were obsessed with admiring their own beauty that their personalities turned out to be very self-centered and narcissistic. As a result, the gods transformed them into the beautiful narcissus flowers.
