The Peruvian lily or lily of the Incas (Alstroemeria aurea ‘Orange King’) is a lily-like perennial with flower petals in different shades of orange with reddish-purple spots and stripes. The Alstroemeria aurea is available in the colours yellow, orange and red. The perennial is perfect for a sunny spot in the border and it flowers in July and August. This variety reaches a height of 60 to 80 cm. The Alstroemeria will naturalise in your garden.
This graceful perennial is not very hardy. It is important to use coverage in winter especially in the first year. When you cut the flowers of this Peruvian lily they combine beautifully with other cut flowers, this makes them very popular for use in bouquets.
